Our History.
Cornerstone Christian Academy was founded in 2013 as First Baptist Christian Academy. It started as a ministry of First Baptist Church, DeRidder, Louisiana, under the leadership of Pastor Lindsey Burns.
To begin, the academy team selected the kindergarten teacher, Linda Johnson, as the coordinator of the school. It started with one Kindergarten class, graduating fourteen kindergarteners in 2014. One new class was added each additional year. In 2017 the school included kindergarten, first, second, and third grades. Pylla Turner was hired as its new Principal, and she continued to lead the school to add fourth and fifth grades.
In 2020, FBCA moved its location to the campus of Grace Church and formally changed its name to Cornerstone Christian Academy. In December 2021 Lisa Causey succeeded Mrs. Turner as the principal. One hundred forty-two students and twenty teachers and staff now make up the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Junior High. The students are provided additional enrichment opportunities to grow mentally and physically through art, Spanish, and physical education classes. Cornerstone Christian Academy strives to build a strong relationship between every student’s home, church, and school. This relationship is founded on the truths found in God’s Word, the Bible. CCA desires to educate future generations by sharing God’s love and enable them to know His plan for their lives and grow as committed disciples.
